“WAGOU” which is forerunner of Project WA-GO was formed in
2006 as a official music band of “Year of Exchange between Japan
and Australia”. After breaking up of this band, Tets-J (Didjeridu)
and Hajime Kobayashi (Percussion) of the member of WAGOU started
new band named “Project WA-GO” with Pierre Ono (Tsugaru Shamisen)
and Ichirouta (bass). Project WA-GO released 2 Albumns - “7 Seasons”
(2007) and “Seven Spirit” (2008). Project WA-GO performed in many
stages such as Pacific Venus Cruise, FM J-WAVE, Didgeridoo Breath
(Fremantle, Australia) and so on. In 2009, Project WA-GO was selected
to produce music of famous Japanese film entitleed “ZATOICHI THE
LAST” by film director, Junji Sakamoto, which will be released in
May 2010. However we terminated our live acitivities in 2010.
In 2015, Project WA-GO will start again.
-The urban Oasis
The unique blend of sounds and awesome contemporary approach of
these 4 virtuoso, specialized in "Twisting the traditional",
makes Project WA-GO the force it is.
Although all members are of Japanese origin, the unlikely combination
of their instruments, DIDJERIDU (Australia), PERCUSSION (Africa/South-America),
TSUGARU SHAMISEN (Japan) and the "Universal" ELECTRIC-BASS,
propels this into a class of it's own, hard to categorize, but unquestionably
a true global affair. Where some compositions an be quite "DRIVING"
and even psychedelic at times, the overall sound hints magnificently
towards tribal and earthy, ultimately making Project WA-GO a "Peaceful-Oasis"
for the mind, in sheer contrast to the urban chaos of everyday living.
